World Dance - 05/07 - Press Release

Although Lydd Airport was almost bankrupt when World Dance staged their first event there back in 1992 the airport has now been bought and successfully turned around into a profitable business running regular flights to France amongst other overseas destinations. This is of course good news for the airport itself but not so much for World Dance, who have faced increased costs and difficulty in arranging events now that the airport is so active. July the 5th will be their last event at this venue….

“For our last event on July 5th we will be pulling out all the stops to make amends and by popular demand we return to Lydd Airport, the home of World Dance. This show will be our last event on July 5th. We will be pulling out all the stops to make amends and by popular demand we return to Lydd Airport, the home of World Dance. This show will be out last ever visit to Lydd, so if you’ve never experienced one of our shows here then this is your last chance before another chapter in ‘Rave History’ comes to an end. As ever the show will feature all the special FX that you have come to expect at Lydd plus some additional surprises to see this venue out in style. Our recent members’ questionnaire has shown that our crowd prefers the atmosphere of being all together with thousands of other people in one main room, and Lydd’s main hanger is ideal for this”. The next event planned for World Dance after this date is not anticipated until New Year’s Eve. Although a couple of venues are in mind its Wembley that looks most promising at this stage, but why the break you may ask? Well the World Dance crew are constantly looking for bigger and better things to ensure they always provide the ultimate in quality. Since the end of The Paradise Club they have been looking for another suitable venue in London and surrounding area, without any joy. Now they have found what looks like a dream paradise…

Knowing the guys behind the organisation would indicate nothing less. The only problem is the distance you will have to travel, although I’m sure it will be well worth it! Their new club will be in, Amsterdam, Holland, holding a capacity of 800 people, boasting waterfalls behind the bar and I expect, more promises than you could care to imagine. The club will open August 1st to the public, first night to include John Digweed, Marshall Jefferson and Dave Angel…. What a weekend of names to look forward to, Holland won’t know what’s hit ‘em. The club will open weekly after that… Wednesday (Drum and Bass), Thursday (House, European), Friday and Saturday (House) and Sunday (Mixed). If you’re like me, you’ll be for next years New Years Eve, looks like there will be plenty of people packing their bags and moving off to be live in sunny (or was that smokey!) Amsterdam. Where better?
