The World of Dance - Press Release

After several months of intense planning, The World Dance Organisation are proud to present the largest event yet staged at Lydd Airport.

“THE WORLD OF DANCE”

This nineteen hour extravaganza, licensed from Midday Saturday, through to 7am Sunday morning, will feature over 65 DJ’s in 6 music arenas. To cater for the diverse selection of music featured and the increased number of people attending, we will be erecting 4 ‘Big Tops’, in addition to the Main Hangar & Warehouse, to give this event a true festival feel. For the first time at a World Dance event we have been granted an Alcohol License, so you can sip ice cold beer, and watch the world go by from the comfort of our very own beer garden.

The entertainment will, by no means, be confined to within the 6 arenas. To provide you with an action packed day in the sunshine, the surrounding area will be transformed into an outdoor theatre playing host to the weird and wonderful. Be mesmerised by the Master Musicians of Joujouka (an ancient tribe of musicians from Morocco) with their own mesmerising form of trance music performing alongside a Giant Drum Workshop. Witness the bizarre antics of Shug the magician and his band of merry men. Other attractions include:- Stilt walkers, fire manipulators and a host of other circus performers, a bouncy castle and a gyroscope to name just a few. Watch an army of modern artists transform blank canvas into masterpiece’s of modern art that will be donated to ‘The Friends of the Earth’ to be auctioned at a later date to raise funds. Inside each arena you will witness the highest levels of production, as you have come to expect, and a vibrant display from some of the country’s finest performers.

• Be sure not to miss James Lavelle @ 11.30pm, dive into unexplored depths of creativity in this musical laboratory. A live performance by Twelve Trees @ 4pm will redefine your conception of ambient dance. This experiment in musical creativity will continue throughout the day and include two monstrous play-offs between Neon Beat and The Psyconauts from Mo Wax @ 7.30pm and 5.30am as they clash in an 8 deck exploration in deep beats awash with audio tranquillity.

• To ensure the entire spectrum of an increasingly popular Drum ‘n’ Bass scene is represented, we introduce Africana. Escorting you through this safari will be Doc Scott @ 7pm, LTJ Bukem with MC Conrad @ 9pm, Fabio @ 1am, and not forgetting last but by no means least, Peshay @ 5am, leading you through the final two hours.

• Europa, a selection of the country’s finest house DJ’s featuring Kiss FM’s Graham Gold @ 4am and Pete Wardman @ 5.30am. Also featuring Malibu Stacey’s very own Seb Fontaine for two hours at 6pm.

• Celebrate a decade of dance in Stratosphere, a journey through ten years of dance music with pioneering DJ’s such as Kenny Ken @ 9pm, Trevor Fung @ 1am and Frankie Valentine @ 5am. There will also be a surprise Ibizian foam party!

• Be sure to catch break beat pioneer Goldie in the Main Hangar @ 5am Sunday morning. Being the second to last Dj is never an easy job, earlier performances by WD favourites: Vibes @ 1.30pm, DJ Rap @ 3.30pm, Mickey Finn @ 7.30pm, and some new faces to the main hangar line up including Scotland’s Dj Kid @ 11pm and Bristol’s own Roni Size @ 1pm, will make the task even more ominous. But with his Metalheadz label backing him up we are sure Goldie will be one of the highlights of the days entertainment.

• The W.D.O. would like to welcome, Guido @ 5pm and Spider Willem @ 11pm, two of Amsterdam’s finest DJ’s, bringing their own unique style of music to the UK for the first time. But do not fear the Brit’s are here with Way Out West’s Jody @ 3pm, Blu Peter @7pm, Kiss FM’s Colin Dale @ 9pm, and The Drum Club’s Charlie Hall @ 5am to name a few leading the charge from our corner.
